Josh goes to kindergarten!

Well it finally happened. Josh started school! He was very excited and a little nervous his first day. He was a trooper though. He had us stay a few minutes and then told us we could go. He refused to color his picture with crayons like his teacher wanted, so he is still the same independent kid. He hasn't gotten into any trouble so I think he is adjusting to having to do what he is told. He wanted to look his very best for the first day so he wore a....Mohawk. and continues to wear one every day. He uses more hair products than Brianna does!
Every day when I pick him up after he runs to me (melt my heart)  he insists I drive home really fast so he can go potty because he won't use the one at school because it is scary. Wait! Maybe he isn't running to me because he loves me and missed me but because it means he gets home faster. Awww, now I am a little sad. Josh enjoyed the end of Summer with some fun play dates with his famous BFF Graham. We went to the park where the 2 of them climbed the fence and went into the river. Josh was wearing pants! So there he was with no shirt or shoes splashing around in his pants. in the river. We had outdoor worship this past Sunday which was at a park so Josh spent the whole time on the playground and I had to get up like 3 times to tell him to stop being so noisy, he then ate at the picnic lunch and spent the rest of the time in the splash park. He still loves all the girls and talks about marrying Kara, still loves video games and bought himself  an add on pack the other day. Boo Microsoft for requiring a credit card.He earns a nickel for taking out the recycling and is currently at this very moment tearing a paper bag apart with his teeth and chewing on it and yesterday he strutted around the house in my 5 inch black heels.  He is still very handsome and very unique. I think he will have a great year at school and have some good adventures to share along the way. Love and blessings to you and yours this new school year.

Summer so far with Josh

Well Summer has been in full swing for a month or so now and Josh has been enjoying it. His new neighborhood best friend is a man down the street with a cool remote control car. When Josh hears it start up, he runs outside without asking and goes down to watch it. I am sure this is the highlight of the neighbors day. (HA!) We went on a trip to dance nationals in WI for Anna and Josh asked are we there yet BOTH ways about 574 times. It was really wonderful. We left at an amazing time that caused us to get caught in rush hour traffic on a FRID
AY in Chicago. Well Josh had to go potty and we were parked on the freeway. So he got to piddle in a water bottle and thought that was pretty fun.
He got his first kiss on the cheek from Gabi at nationals after chasing her around the pool. When I asked him about Gabi he asked "why do you know me so well mom?" "Don't talk about it!" "I don't want Gabi to break up with me!" He has turned the hose on 700 times and wasted about one million gallons of water. He loves burnt hot dogs from he grill, swimming and getting wet and FINALLY got to play with his BFF Graham.
We had vacation bible school all week. He went with me Monday and wouldn't go with his group because Graham wasn't in it. Luckily Grahams mom is awesome and got them put together. So Tuesday and Wednesday he went with his own group. Thursday he stayed home and thought it was a good idea to pee on the floor because he got mad at Ian. That was really cool to come home and have to mop the whole house because they stepped in it and walked all over. BOYS UGH! Today he went and had fun also. This week while driving to VBS, I turned on the VBS music. Josh found this not so interesting and requested Volbeat. I asked him "who listens to Volbeat on he way to church?" He replied "This guy!"
He is enjoying his Summer and is still hopeful that he will get to have a sleepover at one of Brianna's girlfriends houses. He asked her 15 year old friend Chrissy if he could come over for a sleepover. She said "I will have to ask my mom." He is still cute, he is still fun, he is still 5 years old with a 13 year old attitude. We love him :) Happy Summer to you all. Love and blessings!

Summer Josh

HELLO! Josh is enjoying his Summer.
He has been enjoying the kids being home, but the feeling isn't always mutual. He scooters around with Ian and spends an amazing amount of time playing with the hose. He and I went for a walk the other day but he was too fast so I went home and got Ian's bike. Josh didn't feel too confident in my bike riding abilities and practically begged me not to ride it because I might fall down and get hurt! Fear not! I rode that bike like a pro and earned a good job momma from him. He has out of nowhere developed a fear of heights and tries to tell us EVERY night that he can't sleep in his bed (the upper bunk on a bunk bed) due to this fear. He is distraught every time the big kids are away at a sleepover because he is of the belief that he should be invited also. (As if 13 and 14year olds want a 5 year old around). Josh sings the alphabet song pretty well and also the Iggy Azalea "Fancy" song (he's so fancy, you already know ;)). I am pretty positive no 5 year old has a musical repertoire like mine. Today he and his brother got in a fight while I was a work because Josh spit on Ian, so Ian retaliated by pouring coffee creamer into Josh's fruit punch. This prompted Josh to throw it on my kitchen floor. So I had to mop it when I walked in and got stuck to the floor. Which I found most unpleasant. Things are going well this Summer and we are preparing to head out for a LONG car ride for Brianna's dance national's competition and Jeff and I are fervently hoping Josh can control his "she's hot!" comments at the water park since he is in love with every female and head over heels for all Brianna's friends! Wish us luck with the dancing, traveling, and controlling my 5 year old with a 15 year olds mouth!Have a beautiful Fourth of July and God bless America!

So long gone!

We have been MIA for a long time! Life has a way of doing that to you! Josh is now 5 and will be attending his kindergarten preview this Friday, but he's still Josh. He looks like a little boy but acts like a teenager. He would be happy to play Xbox all day if we let him. He also loves X-men movies. He got a scooter for his birthday and enjoys scootering around the sidewalk in front of our house. He has lot's of opinions. For example, he doesn't like babies because they cry, he asked me today what his reward was for getting dressed to go to the grocery store, and while going to the bathroom this morning with the door open asked his dad "do you mind?" when Jeff walked by. He still loves his BFF Graham, although is not pleased that Graham is not yet five. He still loves and plans to marry Kara, and still plans to be a polygamist I guess because he also wants to marry Brianna's friends, Gabi, Maddie, and Savannah. He stole Brianna's baby nickname of peanut and taunts her with it. He says to her " I am peanut!" they actually fight about it. He wants to play games or wrestle with Ian a lot but ALWAYS wants to be in charge and when I an doesn't do what he wants he screams like he is being eaten by a panther. (It is very annoying) He still loves music, his favorite songs right now are "Rude" by Magic and "Cleaning out my closet" By Eminem. ( No I do not know where he heard it, but he sings some of it). We hope that you are all well and we plan to be better about posting some laughs for you as we venture along our journey in the kingdom of Josh. Love and Blessings!

A conversation...

So yesterday I did something I didn't want to do. I took Josh to get his hair cut at the salon. hen his turn came, he got up in the chair and told the stylist that he wanted a "vampire" haircut. Don't ask because I don't know what that looks like. Then while she is cutting his hair she asks him if he has a girlfriend. He replied "yes, it's Kaaaaara" said it just like that, long and drawn out! A couple minutes later he sees the stylist in the mirror and tells her "you're hot!" She said thanks and told him to come by every day. He then sees Ian getting his hair cut in the mirror and tells In that "he looks hot!" Geez. Then she is done and asks him" do you like your hair cut?" "NO" he replies, "I am supposed to look hot and this is not hot!" She says lets put some product in your hair. After that, he likes it. He likes it so much that he runs around saying' I'm sexy." over and over to all the people in the salon. No I don't know where he gets this from. The radio I am thinking so we might have to start turning it off and listening to Veggie Tale or something. All the stylists thought he was too cute and a riot. i was a bit embarrassed but he was precocious and looks pretty HANDSOME with his new haircut. Love and Blessings!

What have we done?

OK, so as you know Josh is now about 4 1/2. I have started to notice all the things I have done to make him "abnormal." For example, once when I was SUPER tired,  I tried to find my sisters house in Ann Arbor and of course got lost. ( I mean who the heck can find their through Ann Arbor if they don't lived there??)  I then called Jeff for help and because I was super tired I possibly overreacted. So now, any time we go somewhere Josh ALWAYS thinks we are lost and that something awful is going to happen. He tells me things like, "this isn't the way" or "where are we?" He gets terrified all the time that we are lost. We have also started our grill on fire (more than once) and so now Josh is scared of grilling, of boiling, of steaming, of anything with heat. Today I was boiling a whole chicken for chicken and dumplings and I had the lid on the pot, so steam was coming out of the steam hole. He ran into the bedroom where I was cleaning and almost in tears begged me to come and check on the chicken because it was smoking. He thinks all things with steam are on fire and any place he doesn't recognize means that we are lost forever. I have made my son afraid. I guess I really need to take Jeff's advice (when I was lost) and KEEP IT TOGETHER more, so that Josh can grow up secure in his travels and when people are cooking!

Josh is a teenager?

So in the last two days Josh has some interesting statements. Yesterday at church he fixed his hair and said to me, "Mom, I am gonna fix my hair so it looks real good." "Then Hailey will see it and marry me!" He was participating in story time in front of the whole church yesterday and when asked if he thought the people who lost everything in Hurricane Sandy were sad he said quite clearly into the microphone"NO!" The boy asking him the question replied "well, they were." He then asked Josh if he thought those people wanted to give up. Again, into the microphone Josh replied "NO!" Today a nurse called Ian hot stuff, Josh replied "He's not hot stuff, he's just stuff" She the asked Josh if he was hot stuff. He replied "yes" then changed his mind and said "No, I am cold stuff." He told me that I would be on TV someday. I asked "why" he said "because you make the best tacos." He then jumped up and said " these tacos got SWAG!" He told me he didn't like Justin Biebers because he's not pretty. He love going to pick Brianna up at her friend Madison's because he can go right into their pantry and help himself to a snack and a juice box! He now thinks that at every house we go to that he should be able to walk right in and help himself! He has had a great summer. He has enjoyed the park, the beach, and playing in the hose. He wants to go to daycare in the fall but still doesn't want to go to school. ;) Hope you have enjoyed family and friends the last few months! Much love to you all.
